Why "prophesize" ?

Is there a reluctance to turn "prophesy" into an ordinary verb because (most? all?) other 3&4-syllable nouns ending in /-si/ cannot become verbs (e.g., "leprosy," "legacy," "agency," "piracy," "presidency")?
