"Clapped-out" has arrived at the front page of the NY Times (Tues.
Oct. 30, 1/1):

Cullen, a laconic fellow with disheveled hair and a cigarette sagging
from his lips, is maneuvering a clapped-out Toyota down a suburban
Johannesburg street.

Another new WOTD for me, but I see that OED2 has it from 1946.
