OED's latest revision inlcudes "muck," n., as a mainly British euphemism for the F-word, but the entry (primary cite 1929) does not include an ex. of the common "muck about."

  1930 C. R. Benstead _Retreat_ (N.Y.: Century) 122: Sort'er gets yer darn, all this muckin' abart.
