Semantic drift: "khaki"

In the sixties I knew chinos as pants in a certain fabric and, more or less,
a certain style, but of various colors, including black and khaki. I knew
khaki as a color, mostly for pants, but not all khaki pants were chinos: I
think I had some in a heavier fabric for NYC winters.
