Not in OED:

1918 (July 8) Irving E. Sheely, in L. D. Sheely, ed. _Sailor of the Air_ (Tuscaloosa: U. of Ala, Press, 1993) 145: The illumination enabled one of the night raiders to hammer the pudding out of us.

OED def. 2, "In pl. The bowels, entrails, or guts of a person or animal. arch. or regional in later use," sugg. this is considerably older.

Sheely (1893-1962) was from Albany, N.Y.
