OED doesn't seem to notice "black" in the sense "the figurative color of sudden oblivion, obliviousness, or unconsciousness":
 
1930 "Anon." [?John Jacob Niles] _One Woman's War_ (N.Y.: Macauley) 143: I rushed into his arms and when he hugged me everything went black. It was very beautiful.
