article was pretty interesting. My local informant on Russian and
Georgian reports:

"I just read it, and this is one weird article. I don't think there
is much connection between its parts. It is true, however, that
people make a conscious effort to forget the languages, this was the
case in Georgia even back in 1997 when I was there."
