"gerrymander" again

Having too late looked at the archives, I see Fred Shapiro introduced
the March 27, 1812 Salem Gazette article, and John Baker pointed to
the first appearance, in the Boston Gazette of March 26.  (In
addition to the cartoon, the BG has a long article, telling in
somewhat different terms from the Salem Gazette the story of the
naming, and the word "gerrymander" appears both in the title of the
illustration and the text of the article.)

At least the William Bentley quotation may be new!
