Yes, for the most part the metadata for these magazines seems better than the
previously scanned periodicals. I've noticed some misdating (e.g., issues of
New York and Mother Jones from 1997 dated as 1977), but overall it looks fairly
reliable.

I think the best way to dip in to the new archive is to go to Advanced Search
and restrict your search to magazines (along with a date range).
