Thanks for the explanation, but, well, the subject line suggests that it is 
being nominated for Scariest Quote of the Year. Is that the same contest or a 
different one? 

There are now at least a dozen "--OTY" "competitions" sloshing around. It is 
hard to tell the noise from the amusing trivia.
