_Superdelegate_ is certainly not new by your evidence.

The term appeared in Longman Register of New Words (c. 1989).  It is NOT
in MW11 (c. 2003) nor in NOAD (c. 2005) nor AHD (c. 2007) nor WNW (c.
2006).  Hmmmm!!!

With the twists and turns of the primary season, this may be a candidate
for WOTY.
