More early "Murphy-ish" citations (UNCLASSIFIED)

Bill Mullins asks, "we now have Murphy's Law, Fourth Law of Thermodynamics, and the Law of Inverse Probabilities -- am I missing any others?"  There are plenty of others, such as Sod's Law, Gumperson's Law, Reilly's Law, Finagle's Law.  There are also various unnamed maxims, such as "Shit happens," that are similar in import to the Murphy's Law proverb.
