"Decimate" once again

Of the Battle of Crocka (Serbia) in July 1739, Ivan Parvev writes
"The Cuirassier regiment Palffy was decimated down to the last man."

Page 231, _Habsburgs and Ottomans between Vienna and Belgrade
(1638--1739)_, East European Monographs, Boulder; distributed by
Columbia University Press (1995).

Perhaps excusable for an author who displays inadequate command of
English, and either similarly inadequate or entirely absent editor
and copyeditor.  But (for the writing and editing as a whole) I am
deeply disappointed with CUP's participation.
