I should have noted that the GRAPEVINE archives are not free. However, the
cost is very cheap and this is a rich repository for anyone who might want to
study the history of terms related to addiction issues. For that matter, since
it consists largely of narratives of ordinary people who have overcome their
alcohol problems through AA, and goes back several decades, it is a good source
for colloquial English lexicon of the second half of the 20th century.
