Antedating of "Gung Ho"

The book in question (the book BY Carlson) is actually dated 1940.  I am attempting to get a copy of it to check whether "gung ho" appears there.

Thanks, Doug, for checking. As for Carlson's book, i.e., the book about him (_The Big Yankee: The Life of Carlson of the Raiders_, by Michael Blankfort), it appeared in 1947, not 1941.
