Lie down with dogs ...

Spoken by a character on tonight's CSI:

"If my father had seen anyone hurt me or my sister, _he would have
laid them down with dogs!_"

This is a sentence no doubt composed by a writer and hardly
spontaneous, but, IMO, an interesting interpretation of the aphorism,
nevertheless.
