The Saxon for "Watch out (I'm going to attack you)!"

While trying not to watch the film "The Black Knight" (1954, Alan
Ladd), set during the reign of King Arthur, I heard him (the Black
Knight, that is) challenge an opponent to a sword fight with "en
garde!"  An anachronism for an early 6th century former blacksmith
and swordsmith?
