Apologies for beating a dead horse when it's down, but can anyone direct
me to a scholarly discussion of the replacement of auxiliary 'have' with
'of' in modal constructions like the one in the subject line? It seems
a little tricky to do a search and I thought I'd be somewhat lazy and
just ask this fine group of folks.
