Speaking of convenience stores:  There are some in Georgia that go by the delightfully oxymoronic name of "Superette."

By and large, at least in this region, convenience stores and filling stations (a.k.a. gas stations) have largely merged. I'm told that selling gasoline retail is not very profitable--that the profit comes from impulse buying of snacks, drinks, and lottery tickets while gas is being purchased.
