Naomi (was: how is it pronounced)

I was recently introduced to a Naomi who pronounces her name "nay-oh-mah."
When I asked a third party about this unusual-to-me pronounciation, I was
told it was an Appalachian preference akin to "Cincinnatah" and "Missourah."
