Interesting. I've only heard:

"The patient must catheterize herself twice a day".  Must be special
to nurses, not doctors.

Only "cath" was as in "the cath lab".

My wife (an RN) confirms that "cath" as a verb is the normal jargon on all the
hospital floors she's worked.
