eggcorn candidate? "come into place" for "come into play"

I searched the Eggcorn database for this and it returned 0 results.

I've spotted a student using "come into place" where I'd expect "come
into play" in a paper:

"This leads one to think whether this is completely true or whether
there are any exceptions. Many factors may come into place. Sex,
race, or background can affect the dialect of a newscaster, even the
type of news it is may very well come into place."
