Ann Burlingham wrote me yesterday with a sighting of "bridle wreath"
referring to spirea, and then a fair number of googled-up examples.
"bridle shower" and "bridle party" have been mentioned in the Eggcorn
Forum.
in the other direction, there are hits for "bridal path" in a horse
context (there are also plays on words for this expression in a
wedding context). and in the Eggcorn Forum, the wonderful "unbridaled
passion".
just a spelling confusion, of course -- but tempting enough that since
i started googling up examples i've had to think carefully about which
spelling i want.
