Many years ago, when I was still a pack-a-day smoker, I dreamed that
my mother, who also smoked, though not as much, when told that she
could lengthen her life by fifteen years if she would quit, said,
"What would I want with fifteen more years of not smoking?" ( That
this was a dream probably says more about me than my mother, but I did
eventually succeed in quitting, back in 1969.)
