odd form

I overheard yesterday in a library committee meeting someone (an MLS in
library science) refer to an appendix in the singular as "AN APPENDIC".  I
cannot follow that person around to see if the form has gained any traction.
Anyone else heard "AN APPENDIC"?  I would be surprised if writing this term
it would be regularized to "AN APPENDIX."
