Jonathan Lethem did a fabulous bit in Harper's a couple years ago on
this: "The Ecstasy of Influence: A Plagiarism", Harper's, Feb. 2007,
pp.59-71. In the Key to the Key, he talks about collage texts and
points to Walter Benjamin and others. It really is quite a fabulous
piece.
