"_Auroch_, aurochs"?!

There's a brief reference to the Latin word for "aurochs," _urus_. The
author gives the *English* pronunciation of this word as [ju at r@s].
Really? Not just [ju:r at s] or even simply [jur at s]? The syllable is
open.
