Hi
The Irish for "Irish person", often used in English is "Gael". The
word comes from the Welsh "Gwyddel", meaning either "foreigners" or
"savages", depending on factors such as rugby (qv) and alcohol. Either
way...
And the English for Wales is from the same root as Walnut - again,
"foreign". In Welsh it's Cymru - "this place".
