Somehow, I senior-momented all of the earlier examples of _laid_
reanalyzed as _lay_, before. In like manner, I may have overlooked
other listers earlier noting of this phenomenon.
OT:
Yesterday, I heard myself ask, "Wear [are you going]" when I'd meant
to say "Where [...]."
Oh, well. Nothing lasts forever.
