to add to the mix: lots of sites on "creepy critters" (reptiles, ambhibians, slugs, leeches, insects, spiders, scorpions, etc.), specifically directed at kids, who are fascinated with these creatures. educational and fun.

(my grand-daughter loves this stuff.)
