Vocal Fry

I've heard it a lot in vocal and choral contexts, especially when I was at New England Conservatory, which was in the late 80's.
I'm in Wuzhishan hiking at the moment or I'd look it up, but it's probably in _Singing: the Mechanism & Technic_, which was (and maybe still is) the standard vocal technique textbook.
It was common for conductors to use the term (and technique) in warm-up exercises. I'm sure I've used it myself a time or two but certainly not lately.
Best wishes to all from this rainforest mountain!
