FIFA thinks snoods could be a danger to players' necks

A colleague has mentioned a use of "snood" that may be a link between
the hairnet and the neckerchief:
"the bag worn to protect or to contain a man's beard, especially in
an industrial environment. It is in fairly common use. Google 'snood
beard' for examples. . . these snoods are also worn on or near the
head -- as is the one that hangs on the face of a turkey (and for
that I suggest you Google 'gobbler snood,' or even Google 'gobble
snood,' just because they sound so good)."
