library (v.): no online hits

PLEASE NOTE MY NEW E-MAIL ADDRESS / PRIÈRE DE NOTER MA NOUVELLE ADRESSE ÉLECTRONIQUE

Heard tonight in the BBC's _Fake or Fortune_, a reality-TV series about tracing the origins and artists of oil paintings that come to auction with some doubt as to their provenance:

'You have to library all the evidence, library the DNA.'

This was spoken by a very Received Pronunciation art expert (Philip Mould), and from context (and pretty obviously) means 'do research about', 'do due diligence regarding'. It's not in the OED or MW online, and there are no Google or Google Books hits (at least, not in the first few pages of results on "library the evidence" and "library the DNA", all of which have this sequence of words over a sentence- or clause-break).

The cite is in the sentence beginning at 23'05" in the programme, which is available here:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0125by8

until next Sunday (17 July) (though it may only be available in the UK).

Probably a nonce usage at this stage, given the lack of evidence of other hits, but certainly worth noting just in case!

Damien
