FWIW, according to the Google n-gram
corpus<http://ngrams.googlelabs.com/graph?content=impregnable&year_start=1800&year_end=2000&corpus=0&smoothing=3>
"impregnable"
fell from about 4 tokens per million to about 0.5 from ca. 1800 to ca.
2000.
OTOH, ISTM that I've always known that word.
OTGH <http://www.catb.org/jargon/html/O/on-the-gripping-hand.html>, I am
clearly getting addicted to Internet abbreviations.
