Oh!  So "Zhontong" is ~Joengtoeng (~Joe as in "Joe").  I assume stress is the first syllable.

The letter "o" stands for so many sounds in US English, e.g., on,off,of,or,to,go.  Interestingly, the most frequent sound spelled by the letter "o" in US English is ~u (as in "of" ~uv). ref truespel book 4.
