before making up his mind to fight Sam Langford in New York.  ***

     Chesty Los Angeleno There with the Jazz.

     While the Parade was going up Market street a friend of mine
introduced me to a man from Los Angeles.  Naturally, I asked him if he had
come to San Francisco for the Festival.

     "Not at all," replied the Gentleman from the South, "not at all.  I
merely came up here at this time to avoid the crowd at home.

     And, as a matter of fact, I really believe he thinks he meant it.
