I just peaked into OED at "past is prologue".  The first two references are:



[a1616    Shakespeare Tempest (1623) ii. i. 258   An act Whereof, what's
past is Prologue; what to come In yours, and my discharge.]

1943    Sci. Monthly July 82/2   The past is prologue, the present is
calamity, and the future will take care of itself.



Seems to me like a long time.
