I'm not sure about that, but once bitten (by Michael Montgomery, when I committed a major faux pas in using the term "standard" after his LSA talk), twice shy.  I hope "mainstream" doesn't offend anyone swimming in other more tributaries (as I'm often doing myself, qua New Yorker), but youneverknow.
