Not in YBQ.  Venerable and occasionally quoted, if not confirmed genuine by
me:

1933 James Waterman Wise _Swastika: The Nazi Terror_ (N.Y.: Smith & Haas) 33
[GB Snippet]: "To win the sympathy of the broad masses," he wrote, "you
must *tell them the crudest and most stupid things*."

Note that what's crude and stupid may be perfectly true or cunningly false.
The point is to keep 'em entertained.
