Saltalamacchia

The Red Sox catcher is Jarrod Saltalamacchia.  Salta La Macchia  once
won the Siena Palio ... in 1704.  Before 2004, that was almost as
long ago as the Red Sox' last previous World Series victory.

I've been wondering what the name meant.  Apparently, "jump the
spot", or "the spot jumps".  Appropriate for when he's catching Wakefield.
