Then there's William Conrad, who played Marshal Matt Dillon in the
radio series of "Gunsmoke", with a voice that matched.  But when the
television series was introduced, Conrad, "the fat detective" of
other (although later) TV series -- "Cannon", "Nero Wolfe", and "Jake
and the Fatman" -- was considered too portly and short for Marshal Dillon.
