Again, I'm surprised. I couldn't find a single instance of it. But I did find,

"As the Jews say, 'Half of the truth is a whole lie.' "

So, I admit that I only half-assed finding a cite.

IAC, IME, "He lies…" and variants can be heard falling trippingly from
the tongue of any random Southerner.
