About eight minutes into the Radio Lab podcast this week (Raising Crane,, Andrea Seabrook uses the word "snuzzle" for cranes, which is listed in the OED as currently being dialectical. The relevant definition says:

Of persons, esp. children: To nuzzle, snuggle, or settle down comfortably.

Seabrook uses it to refer to colts (baby cranes).
