About eight minutes into the Radio Lab podcast this week (Raising Crane, http://www.radiolab.org/blogs/radiolab-blog/2012/dec/03/operation-migration/), Andrea Seabrook uses the word "snuzzle" for cranes, which is listed in the OED as currently being dialectical. The relevant definition says:

Of persons, esp. children: To nuzzle, snuggle, or settle down comfortably.

Seabrook uses it to refer to colts (baby cranes).
