The word _sousaphone_; obsolete?

A photo in the NYT captioned

A ... _tuba_ player ..."

shows him with a *sousaphone.*

Apparently, only specialists in, and aficionados of, the brass musical
instruments bother to use the proper word for this instrument, these
days.

It matters not. WTF, when people see a picture, that's easily worth a
thousand correctly-used words, I reckon.
