DARE defines it as "A hamburger, esp a small one; also transf to var
small, appetizing comestibles. Note: This term was orig assoc with the
White Castle restaurant chain."
An "as of" reminiscence takes it back to about 1970 among Navy pilots.
But the current issue of Sunset Magazine takes it in a new direction:
"Turkey and Blue Corn Quesadilla Slider" is made from tortillas
sprinkled with cheese and folded in half, then cut in half. The two
quarter-rounds serve as the top and bottom "buns."
