Does this word have any US currency?

Etymologically, does it refer to "crack" meaning "crotch" or
"intergluteal cleft" or so?

Does it mean "underpants", or does it mean "underwear"? I.e., can it
refer to such upper-body underwear as vest/undershirt/camisole or brassiere?
