Zwicky on "flashing"

No mention of women?!!!

Some time in the late '40's or the early '50's, in England, at least,
it was legal for certain public venues to feature "LIVE NUDE GIRLS!!!"
The catch was that, though the "girls" were permitted to be completely
devoid of the least hint of any clothing, they were *not* permitted to
make any kind of movement beyond blinking. As anyone who has ever had
to stand at attention knows - the women in England stood on pedestals
- standing immobile takes the meat/bites the big one/eats the green
wienie.

So, at a certain point, after it had become clear that the job
required more than merely the nads to appear naked before strangers,
the women asked for higher salaries. After their request was denied,
the women went out on strike. As the story ran in the St. Louis
Post-Dispatch, there was only a single photo: of a picket-line of
women wearing (nothing but?) raincoatrs and carrying picket-signs that
read,

"NO CASH
 NO _FLASH_"

And, of course, "flashing" by women - not necessarily of their whole
bodies, of course - is a familiar ritual of Mardi Gras, spring break,
and the Jerry Springer show.
