This word in its Latin form, _ultraiectinus, -a, -um_, can mean, among
other things, "pertaining to _Ultrajectum_" - now Utrecht, Holland - a
location possibly so (nick)named because it  was an _oppidum_ that lay
on the far side of a bridge "thrown beyond the Rhine River, the
de-facto _limes_ of the Roman Empire.
