In the relevant environment, I prefer the Elements-of-Style-ish "under
water." Of course, since that's a distinction that can't be made in
ordinary speech, yet the meaning is easily understood, nevertheless,
why bother with it in writing?

Besides, it's the fault of all of those young people txtg.
