nothing to brag home about

Candy Crowley used "nothing to brag home about" when interviewing
someone this morning. It sounds strange to my ears, something like a
hybrid of "look what the cat dragged home" and "nothing to brag
about." It's the word <home> that seems out of place. Imagine my
surprise when I found out that it produces 45,000 hits on Google.
